Introduction
Welcome to RESUS4KIDS – an education and training initiative of the NSW Child Health Networks and NSW Health.
RESUS4KIDS is a paediatric life support training program for health care rescuers who may be involved in the initial resuscitation of an infant or child in respiratory or cardiac arrest. The program is generic and designed for an interdisciplinary audience including medical and nursing students, paramedics, practising doctors and nurses and allied health workers.
The program is delivered in two components: an e-learning module followed by a short practical course.
As of November 2012 over 160,000 individual lessons have been accessed, 9,230 healthcare workers have completed the e-learning program and 4,737 participants have successfully completed the short practical course. There are over 570 qualified RESUS4KIDS trainers and 33 super trainers in NSW, ACT and the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
RESUS4KIDS is ARC 2010 compliant and has been recently updated in October 2012 to include new optional e-learning modules on intraosseous access, the 4Hs and 4Ts, abnormal cardiac rhythm management and a train the trainer refresher module. Paediatric intubation e-learning is currently in development.
RESUS4KIDS is a NSW Health project however it is available to other states and territories within Australia and private hospitals. RESUS4KIDS is also available for health professionals outside of Australia. Click ‘About RESUS4KIDS’ for more information.
RESUS4KIDS gratefully acknowledges a grant from Laerdal to support the e-learning development and deployment.
